Champions League won’t derail Liverpool top four bid

Jurgen Klopp insists Liverpool’s Champions League final preparations will not distract from their top-four quest.

Wednesday’s win over Roma saw the Reds book their place in the Kiev showpiece later this month, where they will face holders Real Madrid.

But their bid to reach Europe’s elite club competition next season is far from a certainty with Tottenham and Chelsea still in the qualification hunt.

Both London clubs could further close the gap in the race for the final two places# with victories in their respective games in hand.

Ahead of the trip to Stamford Bridge on Sunday, Klopp has dismissed any notion that Liverpool’s final two Premier League games could take a back seat.

He said: “Both [games] are very, very important. I’ve said it a few times and can say it again because it didn’t change.

“We have, how I see it, two semis again against Chelsea and Brighton. Very important, no chance to think about anything else.

“Then after these two games, we have two weeks to prepare for the other game which is in three weeks, which would sound already crazy if I would think about that in the moment.

“Both are exactly the same importance. Absolutely no difference.”
