Liverpool confirm International Champions Cup return

Liverpool will take part in the International Champions Cup for a third time.

Jurgen Klopp’s side confirmed their place in this summer’s tournament where they will take on Manchester City, Borussia Dortmund and Manchester United.

Klopp is set to face former club Dortmund at the Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte on July 22 before playing the Premier League champions five days later.

The Premier League champions’ clash with the Reds will take place at East Rutherford’s MetLifeStadium before a July 28 showdown with United at Michigan Stadium.

Billy Hogan, Liverpool’s managing director and chief commercial officer, said: “Our pre-season tour is always a great opportunity for us to visit our supporters around the world.

“We’re really looking forward to visiting America this year and to compete in this fantastic tournament against some great teams.

“We’ll be bringing a bit of Merseyside to the USA and facing some outstanding opposition. We’re all looking forward to seeing our US fans and hearing the crowd in full voice.”

Liverpool previously appeared at the International Champions Cup in 2014 and 2016, finishing as North American and Europe runners-up on both occasions.
