Klopp refuses to rest players for Porto clash

Jurgen Klopp insists he will not rest players in Liverpool’s Champions League tie against Porto.

Progress to the quarter-final stage of Europe’s elite club competition is virtually assured after the Reds ran out 5-0 winners in the first leg three weeks ago.

A win in Saturday’s clash with Manchester United would see Klopp’s side edge ahead in the quest to finish in this season’s Premier League runner-up spot.

But the Liverpool manager has dismissed suggestions that any potential changes to his team will not be made with one eye on the Old Trafford clash.

He said: “I didn’t make a decision so far. We are in a moment in the league where we all have to deliver, play constantly, stuff like that.

“You don’t rotate to avoid something. you only use the players which are in the best shape and if there will be a different line-up to Saturday (against Newcastle), I don’t know.

“But if it will be a different line-up then only because we want to win the game and no other reason. That’s what I meant when I said we will not rest players.

“We will maybe make one, two, three changes or so but only to win the game.”
