Liverpool will play at Anfield on the same day as this year’s Grand National.
Jurgen Klopp’s side are set to welcome Bournemouth on April 14 in a game which became a 5.30pm kick-off in the Premier League’s broadcast schedule.
The fixture will be the Reds’ first home match in 24 years to coincide with the world’s most famous steeplechase, which will begin 15 minutes earlier at Aintree.
Traditionally games at Anfield and Everton’s Goodison Park are put back 24 hours to avoid clashing with the finale of the three-day National.
However the 29th anniversary of the Hillsborough disaster ended that suggestion, with Liverpool yet to play on that date since the 1989 tragedy.
Around 70,000 race-goers are expected to descend on Aintree while another 54,000 will take in the visit of Eddie Howe’s side to Anfield that same day.
Merseyside Police have insisted that both events can be staged with minimal disruption following discussions with Liverpool and racing chiefs.
Grant Rowley. communications director at Aintree racecourse, said: “As with each year, we’re working closely with the police and transport providers.
“But we don’t anticipate it affecting racegoers travelling to Aintree for Randox Health Grand National Day.
“People will be heading to Aintree hours before the football crowd goes to Anfield and leaving Aintree well before the football finishes.
“But as with every raceday, we will do everything possible to ensure the best customer experience for our racegoers when at Aintree Racecourse.
“Grand National Day is already close to sell-out but of course it’s a shame for anyone who wanted to attend both events.
“We look forward to welcoming our racegoers in April for another world-class event.”
TV scheduling also saw a further three Liverpool games moved in April.
Among them is the 231st Merseyside derby against Everton, which will now kick off at 2.15pm on Sunday, April 8 – 24 hours later than originally planned.
The April 22 trip to West Brom is due to start at the same time as the Goodison Park clash while Stoke City’s trip to Anfield will be a 12.30 start on April 28.
