Jurgen Klopp has dismissed the notion Liverpool are already in the Champions League quarter finals.
A 5-0 victory over Porto on Wednesday ensured that the Reds have the upper hand heading into next month’s return leg of their last 16 encounter.
The hefty scoreline coupled with five away goals has seen many render that Anfield tie as little more than a glorified training game for its hosts.
But Klopp insists that Liverpool are not taking their sizeable margin for granted and claims his side owe the home crowd a big performance.
“No, of course not. Why should I think that?” he said when asked if he believed the tie was over.
“We came here to create the basis for the second game at Anfield, no more no less.
“I’ve said many times I’m too long in the business to think anything is sorted before the final whistle is done.
“We owe our supporters at Anfield a 100% performance and that’s what we want to deliver. That’s all.”
