Philippe Coutinho makes Liverpool return

Philippe Coutinho has returned to Liverpool for a farewell party with his old club.

The midfielder completed a move to Barcelona earlier this month in a deal that could reach up to £142 million.

He has already made his debut for the Catalan giants and featured in his first start at the Nou Camp in the 2-1 win over Alaves on Sunday evening.

Coutinho’s departure to Spain proved to be a swift one, with both clubs keen to get the deal done as soon as possible in the January transfer window.

That meant the 25-year-old had little time to say farewell to those on Merseyside.

But Catalan newspaper Sport reports that Coutinho and his family have flown back to Liverpool via a private jet to attend a farewell party with his former club.

They claim that all of the Liverpool squad, and the technical staff, will attend the event on Tuesday to allow Coutinho to say his final farewells.
