Klopp refuses to discuss Coutinho’s Liverpool future

Jurgen Klopp has refused to discuss Phillipe Coutinho’s Liverpool future.

Rumours abound that Barcelona are preparing to reignite their interest in the Brazilian later this month with a mega-money bid to lure him away from Anfield.

The Catalans attempted to sign Coutinho last summer but saw three bids swiftly rejected by Liverpool including one that exceeded £114 million.

A recent advert by Barca’s kit supplier Nike that suggested Coutinho would soon be moving to the Nou Camp has fuelled speculation another bid is imminent.

Adding fuel to the fire was Coutinho’s absence from the Reds’ win over Burnley through injury after he was similarly unavailable last summer amid the La Liga giants’ initial interest.

Neither the 25-year-old nor Klopp have address his future and the Liverpool manager maintained that stance ahead of his side’s FA Cup clash with Everton.

He said: “There are a lot of things I could say but you would write the stories anyway.

“So I have nothing to say about it, that’s how it is. It’s the transfer window and that’s all.

“Already I have opened the door halfway because I’ve mentioned it’s a transfer window but there’s nothing to say about it that would help the player, the club or me.

“That’s the only thing I’m interested in, that’s all. Whatever you consider is not my cup of tea, I’m not interested in that.

“There’s nothing to say about it. 80% of the cameras are here for this but that’s a waste of time.”
