Klopp urges Liverpool to build on Brighton rout

Jurgen Klopp has called on Liverpool to build on their drubbing of Brighton.

An emphatic 5-1 rout saw the Reds move up to fourth in the Premier League table ahead of a crucial week on both the home and European fronts for Klopp’s side.

Their Champions League hopes hinges on a do-or-die group finale with Spartak Moscow before they face Everton in next Sunday’s Merseyside derby at Anfield.

And Klopp believes that Liverpool can still improve upon what proved to be a comfortable afternoon at the Amex Stadium.

He said: “In our calmer moments we were fantastic.

“We maybe didn’t play like Man City but we were a very good football team.

“But we need to carry on, I’m more interested in the next game, it was good because we need the points to keep up with the top four.

“We want to stay as close as possible and be in a position to take advantage but we need results, it is an intense period.

“It looks like we are flying, but we aren’t.”
