Joel Matip is set to miss Liverpool’s clash with Southampton through injury.
Matip has been struggling with a thigh problem in the days building up to the visit of Mauricio Pellegrino’s side to Anfield on Saturday afternoon.
The Cameroon international’s absence is expected to see Dejan Lovren handed a belated first-team recall as the Reds prepare to take on his former club.
Lovren’s last Liverpool appearance came in October’s 4-1 defeat to Tottenham which saw him substituted midway through the first half by Jurgen Klopp.
Klopp is likely to hand Adam Lallana a cameo against the Saints after returning from a thigh injury that ruled him out of the first three months of the season.
Liverpool are also set to have Sadio Mane and Jordan Henderson back in contention following their setbacks in recent weeks.
