Nobody better than me for Liverpool, insists Klopp

Jurgen Klopp has insisted he is still the best man for the job at Liverpool.

The German boss celebrated two years at Anfield earlier this week since replacing Brendan Rodgers in October 2015.

Despite returning the Reds to the Champions League this season, he currently finds himself fighting questions about his future after a series of disappointing performances from his side.

Draws with Newcastle United, Spartak Moscow and Burnley, as well as defeat to Leicester City in the Carabao Cup, have left some fans questioning whether he is the right man for the job.

Klopp, though, insists that the club would struggle to find someone who would do a better job than the one he is currently doing.

He said: “I’m sure you’ve all wrote about everything about it so it makes no difference what I say.

“It’s just for me a wonderful time, I’ve enjoyed every second.

“It’s a difficult job. I’m not sure we are where we could be but did we improve last year? Yes. Are we better this year? Yes. Because we didn’t get the results so far does that mean I should stop? No.

“We had to improve to be in the situation we are in now. There is not such a big difference to the top teams now.

“If I were to come in today as a new manager and this was the situation and people give us the time, it would be perfect.

“If they sacked me now I don’t think there would be a lot of managers who would do a better job than I’m doing.

“I’m not perfect but it’s difficult to find better options. As long as 98% of Liverpool fans think we are going the right way, we will succeed, that’s how it is.”
