Sadio Mane insists his playing style will not change despite his collision with Ederson.
Mane will now miss Liverpool’s next three games for his red-card challenge on the Brazilian goalkeeper during his side’s 5-0 hammering by Manchester City.
Ederson required eight stitches and was stretchered off at the Etihad Stadium following the high-footed clash which saw the Reds winger instantly dismissed.
But while Mane revealed that he has apologised to the City stopper for the injury, he is adamant it will not alter any future decision-making in a similar scenario.
He said: “It’s not what I wished [to happen].
“It was a challenge for the ball, I made contact and it’s not what I wanted to do so I apologised to him. It’s part of football and I cannot change anything.
“I think in the next time I will get the ball before him maybe, I will do my best
“My intention was not to hurt the goalkeeper because it was bad and I wish him a good recovery and come back healthy.
“I don’t have his number so I just posted messages for him. I hope he sees it.”
The Senegal winger will now be ineligible for Saturday’s visit of Burnley to Anfield as well as a league and cup double header with Leicester City next week.
“It’s not easy for me because I would love to be in the pitch and enjoy, especially to help my team to win games,” admitted Mane.
“I also accept [the FA’s decision] and try to be ready for my comeback.
“We have a great team and great qualities so I think the boys will do it [in my absence].”
