Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will seal his £35 million switch to Liverpool tonight.
Liverpool opened successful negotiations with Arsenal on Wednesday in which they matched Chelsea’s rebuffed offer for the England international.
The Premier League champions had a bid accepted by their London counterparts but the player held out in favour of a preferred move to Anfield.
Oxlade-Chamberlain is set to undergo a medical at St George’s Park before England fly out to Malta for their latest World Cup qualifier on Thursday.
Jurgen Klopp also remains hopeful of sealing the deadline-day signing of Monaco midfielder Thomas Lemar for a potential club-record £70m fee.
Officials from Merseyside are on standby to conduct a medical at the French national side’s base Clarefontaine if a deal is agreed.
Klopp has also refused to concede defeat in his pursuit of Virgil van Dijk, with the Southampton defender understood to still be keen on a move to Anfield.
Liverpool had been forced to publicly end their interest in the Dutch centre-back in June but are buoyed by the player’s intent on joining the club.
