Mohamed Salah’s Liverpool FC debut on hold

Mohamed Salah will not make be able to make his Liverpool debut tomorrow.

The Egypt international had hoped to feature in the Reds’ opening pre-season encounter with Tranmere Rovers following a £36.9 million move from Roma.

But Salah’s bow is temporarily on hold despite beginning training at Melwood as he is ineligible for Wednesday’s game at Prenton Park.

Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that the 25-year-old will have to leave the UK for a short period and return in order to finalise his work permit.

He said: “Mo Salah is here in training but cannot play because of the rules, so that’s what we have to accept.

“We will try to get the working permission or the visa, I’m not sure what it is we need to get.

“But we have to go to Paris and leave him there for a day or two and then he’ll come back.

“We are hopeful he can play soon.”

Salah could also miss Friday’s game at Wigan Athletic, which takes 48 hours after the Tranmere fixture and would see his first Liverpool outing further delayed.
