Sadio Mane is close to making a long-awaited return to action for Liverpool.
Mane missed the final weeks of the Reds’ 2016/17 campaign after he suffered a knee injury in April’s Merseyside derby win over Everton.
The Senegal international underwent surgery to repair the damage to his meniscus ahead of a planned comeback in the new Premier League season.
Liverpool are expecting Mane to resume full training within the next 10 days.
However the 25-year-old will not be risked in the club’s pre-season schedule, which begins next week with friendlies against Tranmere Rovers and Wigan.
Mane played a vital part for Liverpool last season, scoring 13 goals in 27 appearances following a £32 million arrival from Southampton.
He was also crowned Liverpool’s Player of the Year after helping Jurgen Klopp’s side in their successful attempt to qualify for the Champions League.
