Jordan Henderson could return for Liverpool FC before end of this season

Jurgen Klopp remains optimistic Jordan Henderson could feature for Liverpool again this season.

Henderson looks set to be sidelined for the remainder of the season as well as England’s Euro 2016 campaign after suffering a knee ligament injury during the Reds’ Europa League quarter-final with Borussia Dortmund on Thursday.

But Klopp is confident that the Liverpool captain, 25, could still play a part in the club’s remaining games before the Premier League season ends on May 15.

He said: “It’s serious but it’s not that serious that there’s no hope for us for maybe the last one or two games.

“Then it’s clear that there’s still of course hope for the European Championships.

“For us he is a very, very important player, getting better and better and better in the last few weeks because he had his rhythm.

“But I think he’s obviously an important player for England too so there’s not a final judgement that you can say he has no chance, there’s a chance.

“It’s an isolated ligament [injury], nothing else. It’s not good news but this is part of something like good news. We will do everything for him, for us, that he is back in the race as soon as possible.

“I can’t say more, you always have to wait, Each day you have to see what you can do, But until now it’s the best you can get when you have a knee injury.”
