Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has backed Vics Canvas to win this afternoon’s Grand National.
Klopp will miss the Aintree showpiece in his inaugural season on Merseyside due to the Reds’ preparations for tomorrow’s visit of Stoke City to Anfield.
But the Kop boss has backed the 66-1 shot to win the world’s most famous steeplechase, with the help of vice-captain James Milner.
He said: “I only saw Milly’s face when I grabbed the paper! I thought ‘Is it good?’ Oh, no. Sorry, Vics Canvas!
“I am excited a little bit and we will see – maybe Milly will come and give me some money or maybe it was not the best choice. It is how it is.
“I heard about this race before but had no idea it is next to Liverpool, to be honest. It seems to be a big thing and something special.
“I can’t say too much about it but if it’s interesting and we can have a look at it after training, I will ask Milly how my horse was going.”
