Klopp confident Can will sign new Liverpool FC deal

Jurgen Klopp is positive that Emre Can will sign a new contract with Liverpool.

The German midfielder will enter the final 12 months of his contract this summer and is yet to agree to a new deal since negotiations broke down in December.

He could walk away from the Reds for free next summer if an extension is not agreed, with Juventus and several Bundesliga clubs monitoring his situation.

Liverpool are keen to avoid losing Can, with the 23-year-old having claimed a key role in Klopp’s side in recent months after overcoming a hamstring injury.

And Klopp remains confident that an agreement can be reached between both parties.

He said: “After his bicycle kick probably everyone wants him to stay. It’s no secret how much I like Emre.

“He likes the club and it’s a completely normal situation. We’re in talks and there’s no pressure. All is good.

“We’re two partners that have big respect for each other and everything will be good.

“When we can keep good players that makes sense and he’s one of these good players. I’m quite positive.”
