Liverpool FC consider Sydney end-of-season friendly

Liverpool could play an end-of-season friendly in Australia this summer.

Jurgen Klopp’s side will finish their Premier League campaign on May 21 but could extend their playing schedule but a further week according to reports.

Plans for the 2017/18 season have already seen the Reds travelling to China for the Premier League Asia Trophy in July as well as potential friendlies in Germany.

But Fox Sports claim that the New South Wales government are keen to arrange a fixture between Liverpool and A-League champions Sydney FC later next month.

A potential fixture with Perth Glory is also said to have been separately mooted by Western Australia’s government to Anfield officials.

Liverpool have previously played end-of-season friendlies but have not featured in one since 2014, when they trounced Shamrock Rovers at Dublin’s Aviva Stadium.

Previous visits to Australia saw them face Brisbane Roar and Adelaide United in summer 2015, just two years after playing in front of 95,000 fans at Melbourne’s MCG arena.
