Illness has forced Daniel Sturridge to leave Liverpool’s training camp in Spain.
The England striker was part of the Reds’ squad which flew out to La Manga for warm-weather training earlier this week despite suffering from a virus.
But Sturridge has returned to Merseyside after Liverpool’s medical team ruled that he was unable to particpate in double sessions with Jurgen Klopp’s squad.
Anfield officials remain confident that the marksman will be able to return to training next week ahead of Liverpool’s trip to Leicester City on February 27.
“The striker joined his teammates on the trip to Spain earlier this week eager to participate in the daily double sessions, despite feeling unwell,” confirmed a club statement.
“However, Sturridge’s condition hasn’t improved and he will fly back to Merseyside today before resuming training at Melwood as soon as he is well enough.”
