Liverpool have confirmed that Steven Gerrard will return to the Anfield pitch when the club’s legends take on Real Madrid next month.
Gerrard took up his new role as a coach at the Reds’ youth academy earlier this month after calling time on his playing career at the end of November.
But the Champions League-winning captain is set to dust off his boots again to grace his former stomping ground in the LFC Foundation’s charity match on March 25.
A host of Anfield icons are already confirmed to feature, including Gerrard’s former team mates Jamie Carragher, John Arne Riise and Jerzy Dudek.
“I’m really looking forward to playing in the LFC Foundation legends charity match,” said Gerrard.
“Anfield will always hold a special place in my heart.
“It’s a real honour to be sharing the pitch with such a great team of legends whilst raising money for the club’s official charity.”
