Loris Karius appears set for a return to Liverpool’s starting line-up this weekend after Jurgen Klopp lost faith with Simon Mignolet.
Mignolet was restored as the Reds’ first-choice goalkeeper before Christmas following the German’s faltering start to life at Anfield with a series of high-profile errors.
But the Belgian stopper is now reportedly set to face the axe himself after keeping just three clean sheets in nine Premier League outings since being recalled.
He was responsible for blunders which led to goals in last week’s draw with Chelsea and a 2-0 reversal to relegation strugglers Hull City just four days later.
According to the Daily Mirror, Klopp is considering dropping Mignolet for Saturday evening’s visit of Tottenham as Karius is set to return to the side.
The ex-Germany under-21 international arrived from the Liverpool manager’s former club Mainz last summer as the club’s new long-term goalkeeper.
Karius has been restricted to appearances in the EFL and FA Cups following his last Premier League outing in a 2-2 draw with West Ham at the beginning of December.
