Klopp and Liverpool FC squad hold clear-the-air talks

Jurgen Klopp has revealed that he held lengthy clear-the-air summit with Liverpool’s players in the wake of their defeat to Swansea City.

Last weekend’s 3-2 reversal to the Welsh side saw the Reds’ hopes of remaining in this season’s Premier League title race all but ended.

With a place at Wembley at stake in tomorrow’s EFL Cup semi-final with Southampton, Klopp summoned his players to a meeting at Melwood on Sunday.

Recent defensive errors were highlighted by the Liverpool manager, who admits that his squad are currently not enjoying their on-field performances.

He said: “We had a long meeting after the game so I am ready for the rest of the season.

“It was a football meeting with a few other parts of the game. It was because the goals we have conceded in 2017 have been a little bit of the same story.

“It’s not that teams create a lot of chances against us. That’s still a good sign.

“But usually, they don’t create a lot and still score. So we spoke about this and a few other things.

“It’s about enjoying the role we have. We are Liverpool, and a really good football-playing side, and we don’t enjoy the job we have to do?

“In our job, in 70 to 80 per cent of all games, we are dominant. So we have to enjoy this.”
