Jurgen Klopp has pledged to help Steven Gerrard realise his ambition of becoming a manager after rejoining Liverpool.
Gerrard will begin his new role as a coach with the Reds’ youth academy just months after calling time on a glittering playing career in November.
The 36-year-old continues to study for his coaching qualifications at the Kirkby operations base but has designs of someday stepping into senior management.
And Klopp has offered his support to the Anfield legend in his latest footballing step.
He said: “We had a very good and long talk together.
“He’s a wonderful guy and for me it was important to know what Steven wants.
“He says he wants to be a manager in the future and that’s good. I said from my side whatever I can do to make him the best manager he can be.
“It’s great for us and it’s perfect for him. Being a manager is a job you have to learn. It’s wonderful news for football.”
