Jurgen Klopp has revealed that Philippe Coutinho will return for Liverpool in Wednesday’s EFL Cup trip to Southampton.
Coutinho last featured for the Reds almost two months ago after sustaining an ankle ligament injury in the 2-0 win over Sunderland on November 26.
The Brazil playmaker could play some part in the semi-final clash at St Mary’s after completing a third successive full training session since being passed fit.
But Klopp is wary of managing the intensity of Coutinho’s long-awaited comeback.
He said: “I think Phil is fit enough to be a big part of the squad.
“It means there could be minutes [but] it depends on the game.
“It was six or seven weeks, that’s long, but no final decision has been made until now.
“He needs minutes in training but as soon as possible minutes in games [also].”
