Liverpool face an anxious wait on the full extent of Jordan Henderson’s injury.
Henderson may miss the Reds’ trip to Sunderland after he was forced off with a heel problem during the second half of the Reds’ 1-0 win over Manchester City.
The England international has been plagued by heel problems after it emerged last season that he had been suffering from the condition plantar fasciitis.
He faces a race against time to be fit for the encounter at the Stadium of Light, which comes under 45 hours after Liverpool took on Pep Guardiola’s side.
Jurgen Klopp has admitted that he is unsure of the severity of his captain’s injury, which is not a recurrence of the one which was diagnosed last term.
He said: “At this moment, it’s a little bit of pain in the heel.
“When Hendo is limping, if it’s a little bit of pain, it’s probably a bit more.
“We don’t know exactly in this moment.”
