Adam Bogdan will to make an early return to Liverpool after suffering a season-ending injury at Wigan.
The Hungarian goalkeeper was farmed out to the Championship newcomers this summer following the Reds’ signings of Loris Karius and Alex Manninger.
Bogdan had become a near ever-present for the Latics, making 17 appearances but a knee injury sustained against Barnsley last weekend is set to end his loan spell.
He was stretchered off after landing on his knee in the penalty area during the goalless draw at Oakwell and confirmed the grim news on his official Instagram account.
“I have just received the result of my MRI scan which showed that I tore my ACL in my right knee,” wrote Bogdan.
“So it will be a lengthy recovery. I am sure I will return stronger!”
