Barcelona eyeing audacious Klopp swoop

Barcelona are eyeing Jurgen Klopp as their prospective new manager.

Klopp recently signed a new six-year contract with Liverpool but reports in Spain suggest that has done little to deter the current La Liga champions.

Don Balon claim that the 49-year-old is being lined up as Barcelona’s preferred candidate should Luis Enrique leave the club next summer.

Enrique, 46, is only planning to weigh up his future options after his current contract at the Nou Camp expires at the end of this season.

That has prompted Barcelona to place Klopp at the top of their wish list of potential successors to the Champions League-winning coach.

But the German’s lengthy commitment to Anfield, with a deal which is set to run until summer 2022, is likely to prove a significant object to the Catalan giants.

Other candidates earmarked to replace Enrique include Everton manager Ronald Koeman and Thomas Tuchel, Klopp’s successor at Borussia Dortmund.
