Staff at Liverpool Hope University are set to stage 10 days of strike action.
Two separate walkouts will take place at the Childwall-based campus from Monday to Friday during the opening fortnight of the new teaching year from September 22.
The move, which is backed by 85% of a recent ballot by University and College Union (UCU) members, is in response to planned job cuts to academic positions.
Departments including Education and Social Sciences, Creative Arts and Humanities, and Human and Digital Sciences are among those facing lay-offs.
Up ot 39 jobs were set to be cut by the university across its two city campuses earlier this year but that figure still remains at 30 despite recent negotiations.
UCU general secretary Jo Grady said: “Liverpool Hope University is trying to slash vital academic jobs as part of a politically motivated plan to reshape the institution.
“These cuts are not driven by necessity they’re the result of poor management choices and ballooning capital spending.
“Our members are absolutely right to fight back. It is outrageous that hardworking staff are being made to pay the price while senior managers continue to reward themselves handsomely.
“We call on the university to halt these cuts, rule out compulsory redundancies, and work with us to find a constructive path forward.”
