Five of Liverpool’s games switched for TV

Five of Liverpool’s early-season games have been moved for television coverage.

Arsenal’s visit to Anfield is now a 5.30pm start on Saturday, August 24 while the Reds’ trip to Burnley a week later will also take place at the same time.

The home clash with a currently manager-less Newcastle on Saturday, September 14 has been pushed back to 12.30pm with BT Sports set to broadcast the game.

Jurgen Klopp’s side will also face Chelsea on Sunday, September 22 with the Stamford Bridge encounter pushed back to a 4.30pm kick-off.

A journey to newly-promoted Sheffield United is also set to be shown live by Sky Sports on Saturday, September 29 with another 12.30pm start.

All bar nine of Liverpool’s Premier League fixtures in the previous campaign were switched due to TV coverage of their enthralling title race with Manchester City.

Meanwhile the European champions have confirmed that 16 first-team players will report back to Melwood for the start of pre-season training this weekend.

Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah are due to be notable absentees due to their involvement in the African Cup of Nations with Senegal and Egypt respectively.

Brazil duo Roberto Firmino and Alisson will similarly be returning belatedly on account of their country’s involvement in Sunday’s Copa America final.

Jordan Henderson, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold are all set to report back later this month following their Nations League exploits.

Fabinho, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, James Milner and Joel Matip are among the players who will return since winning the Champions League final in June.

Summer signing Sepp van den Berg will also join his new teammates for the first time since the teenage defender sealed a £1.3 million move from PEC Zwolle.
