Salah set to become Liverpool FC’s record signing

Mohamed Salah is in line to become Liverpool’s record signing this summer.

The former Chelsea winger remains among Jurgen Klopp’s primary transfer targets despite a continued failure to convince Roma to agree a deal.

An original £28 million bid from the Reds was rejected as the Serie A giants remain hopeful of securing an improved deal in the region of €40m (£35.2m).

However the Daily Telegraph claim that Liverpool are now prepared to meet those demands for Salah.

That would see the club’s current transfer record, paid out for Andy Carroll in 2011, marginally surpassed and potentially increased by an inclusion of add-ons.

Roma’s sporting director Monchi confirmed on Wednesday that they had received an offer for Salah from an English club, understood to be Liverpool.

However he also warned that the Italian runners-up would not be bullied into parting with the Egypt international.

Salah previously had the chance to move to Anfield in 2014 but instead opted to join Chelsea in an £11m deal, which proved an unsuccessful two-year spell.
