Sturridge may have played last-ever Liverpool FC game

Daniel Sturridge may have played his last-ever game for Liverpool after suffering a recurrence of a potentially season-ending hip injury.

Jurgen Klopp confirmed that the England international missed the Reds’ defeat to Crystal Palace last weekend due to another setback in his long-running struggles.

It has since emerged that the problem picked up prior to the Eagles’ visit to Anfield was a relapse of the one which originally sidelined him for two months.

Sturridge made substitute appearances in successive wins over Stoke City and West Brom earlier this month but continues to be beset by fitness issues.

The 27-year-old has made only five Premier League starts for Liverpool this season and also found himself overshadowed in the first team when available.

Klopp favours Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Philippe Coutinho as his strongest attacking line-up which pushed Sturridge further down the pecking order.

Sturridge’s future is set to be debated by the Anfield hierarchy this summer with a track record for injuries that has far outweighed his once prolific goal tally.
