Liverpool are preparing to hijack Tottenham’s deal for Porto forward Luis Diaz.
Diaz has been on the radar of several Premier League clubs since last summer when he appeared on the verge of a move to the Reds’ local rivals Everton.
But the Colombia international could be fully Merseyside bound with Jurgen Klopp’s side ready to table an initial offer in the region of £37.5 million.
That figure could rise to around £52.5m with attainable performance-based add-ons included while still falling below the player’s £66m release clause.
Porto rejected a £37.6m bid from Tottenham for Diaz, who faced Liverpool twice in this season’s Champions League group stages, earlier this week.
The 25-year-old is in his homeland for World Cup qualifiers and would need to complete a medical in South America for any deal pass before Monday’s transfer deadline.
