Liverpool duo return for final day showdown

Diogo Jota and Jordan Henderson will be involved for Liverpool’s season finale against Crystal Palace.

Jota had been expected to miss the remainder of the 2020/21 campaign after suffering a foot injury in a 4-2 win over Manchester United earlier this month.

However the Portugal international is included in the Reds’ match day squad that bids to secure a top four finish with a win over Roy Hodgson’s side.

Jurgen Klopp is also able to call on captain Henderson, who has not featured since picking up a groin problem in February’s home defeat to Everton.

The midfielder underwent corrective surgery which has sidelined him for the previous three months and may play some part in the Eagles’ visit on Sunday.

Klopp named Andy Robertson in his starting line-up, making the full-back the only Liverpool player to begin every Premier League game this season.

Alisson is also set to make his 100th top-flight appearance a week on from scoring a crucial goal at West Brom which kept the club’s top four hopes alive.

Meanwhile Mohamed Salah could claim his third Golden Boot in four seasons if he is able to eclipse Harry Kane with the pair currently on 22 goals apiece.

One notable omission in the decisive fixture will be referee Andre Marriner, who has been forced to withdraw from officiating the game owing to injury.

Craig Pawson has been confirmed as his replacement and is set to take charge of his seventh Liverpool match in all competitions this season.

Up to 10,000 supporters are set to be in attendance at Anfield for the first time since December, when a crowd one fifth of that figure was allowed.

Ex-Liverpool manager Hodgson will bow out from elite-level management after presiding over Palace’s final match at his former stomping ground.
