Wijnaldum ‘completely committed’ to Liverpool

Jurgen Klopp insists Gini Wijnaldum will be ‘completely committed’ to Liverpool until his final game.

The Holland international’s long-term future remains clouded in uncertainty ahead of his existing deal on Merseyside preparing to expire this summer.

Barcelona and Bayern Munich are both credited with interest in Wijnaldum, who joined from Newcastle in 2016, once he likely becomes a free agent.

The 30-year-old’s involvement in the Reds’ final game of 2020/21 against Crystal Palace on Sunday could proved to be his last-ever outing for the club.

But while Klopp remains coy over Wijnaldum’s next move, he shot down any suggestions that the midfielder would not give his all while still at Anfield.

He said: “It’s not the first time we had situations like that and the boys did always well.

“The boys are incredible characters so it’s [not important] to know exactly about the future, what will happen.

“[They] are used to being in negotiations, stuff like this.

“Gini’s character is not in question, he’s a sensational guy, and completely committed to the team and to the club and all these things until the last day.

“We will see when that will be.”
