Raheem Sterling admits he still ‘loves’ Liverpool despite an acrimonious move to Manchester City.
Sterling has endured a consistently hostile reception from the Anfield faithful ever since his £49 million move to the Etihad Stadium in the summer of 2015.
The England international became a pivotal figure in the Reds’ title challenge the previous year when they narrowly lost out to City by a two-point margin.
But Sterling has revealed that he retains a strong affection for his former club, where he developed from the youth set-up into a first-team figure.
“Would I ever go back to Liverpool? To be honest with you, I love Liverpool,” he said on the Instagram account of representatives Colossal Sports Management.
“Don’t get it twisted, they are always in my heart, do you know what I mean?
“It’s a team that (has) done a lot for me growing up.”
