Liverpool take key step in Anfield Rd expansion

Liverpool will host a public consultation on their Anfield Road expansion plans.

Outline planning permission to add a further 4,000 seats to the stadium’s capacity was allowed to expire in September in favour of a larger increase.

The ambitious new proposals will see the European champions’ home surpass the 60,000 mark and are set to face public scrutiny in a matter of weeks.

Over 5,000 leaflets have been distributed to local residents inviting them to the consultation and asked for feedback from them as well as businesses and fans.

Consultations will be held in the Kop Bar on November 29, December 2-3 as well as a pop-up stand behind the Anfield Road stand for the games against Brighton and Everton.

Supporters will also be able to submit their own views on the subject via an online feedback form once the public consultation process has begun.

“Our vision is to create a bigger Anfield which would allow more fans to watch some of Europe’s best football in a world-class facility in the heart of Liverpool,” read a club statement.

“We invite you to a series of drop-ins to find out more about our progress so far. We want to hear from local residents, businesses and fans as we develop and shape our proposals.”
