Sadio Mane has explained the reason for his recent fallout with Mohamed Salah.
Mane appeared visibly frustrated that his Liverpool teammate did not pass to him in the final stages of the Premier League leaders’ win over Burnley in late August.
Although the Senegal international later insisted that the issue had since been ‘forgotten’, it still led to speculation of a rift between the Reds’ forwards.
But Mane insists that the pair remain on good personal terms and revealed that the incident has now become a source of amusement among their teammates.
He said: “I think things can happen in football. I feel a little bit frustrated because it’s football you want to score more goals.
“You can see Man City eight, six, seven nil. You can see it, no? So, for me and for the team it is really important for us to score as many goals as we can.
“But it can happen because he didn’t see me and I was a bit frustrated. But we come out [of it] as really, really good friends.
“Yesterday I said ‘Gini (Wijnaldum), tell Mo why Sadio wanted to beat you in the Burnley game’. Gini is so funny, I always say these kind of thing.
“You know it is all forgotten, it is behind us.”
Mane will take on former employers Salzburg when they take on the European champions in Wednesday’s Champions League group encounter at Anfield.
And the 27-year-old is adamant that Juergen Klopp’s side will not underestimate the Austrian Bundesliga outfit, who trounced Genk in their Group E opener.
“The league is a good league. I played there for two-and-a-half years and met great people there in a great club. As a human being, I learned a lot,” he added.
“They are a really, really good team and are doing well and they need respect because they are top of the group.
“We are expecting a very, very difficult game tomorrow. We will do everything possible to get a positive result.”
