Four Cunard liners are set to join forces in Liverpool for the first time.
The Queen Mary 2, the Queen Elizabeth, Queen Victoria and Queen Anne will all be aligned to the River Mersey as part of a Four Queens celebration in two years’ time..
Scheduled to take place on May 16, 2028, Cunard confirmed on Wednesday (April 22) that they will be returning to their spiritual home for the rare spectacle.
The cruise company, which was founded in the city in 1840, last brought three of its Queen ships to the Mersey in 2015 to commemorate their 175th anniversary.
More than one million spectators were estimated to have visited the waterfront over the course of that Bank Holiday weekend to witness the vessels in formation.
The Four Queens event will be aligned to Liverpool’s own commemorations of the 20-year anniversary since it was named as European Capital of Culture.
Katie McAlister, president of Cunard, said: “Bringing our four Queens together on the Mersey for the first time will be a rare and incredibly special moment for Cunard.
“Liverpool is where our story began, and returning with the full fleet is a powerful celebration of that bond.
“It will be an unforgettable day for our guests, for the city, and for everyone who comes together to enjoy the spectacle from the shore.”
