Trent Alexander-Arnold has withdrawn from the England setup through injury.
The Liverpool defender became the fifth player to opt out of Gareth Southgate’s 23-man squad before a Euro 2020 qualifying double header this weekend.
Alexander-Arnold has been struggling with a back problem sustained during the latter stages of the Reds’ 4-2 victory over Burnley on March 10.
Despite the injury, the 20-year-old was able to play successive games for Jurgen Klopp’s side and insisted on reporting for international duty with the Three Lions.
But Alexander-Arnold’s hopes of being involved against the Czech Republic and Montenegro were dashed by an increased discomfort over the past few days.
The right-back’s return to Merseyside for treatment comes just weeks after he overcame a knee injury sustained in mid-January against Brighton.
Liverpool will now decide whether Alexander-Arnold is able to feature in next weekend’s clash with Tottenham without risk of aggravating the injury.
Manchester United’s Luke Shaw, Chelsea’s Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Manchester City duo Fabian Delph and John Stones previously withdrew from the England camp.
