Liverpool have safeguarded Rhian Brewster’s long-term future with a new contract.
A stand-off previously existed between the striker and Reds chiefs over a deal after he turned 18, leading to fears that he could move away from the club.
Brewster’s stock has risen significantly in the past 12 months since starring in England’s under-17 World Cup win and had attracted interest from several sides.
Borussia Monchengladbach appeared forerunners to sign the teenager, which prompted Liverpool to cancel a planned pre-season friendly with them.
But the Anfield hierarchy’s attempts to tie Brewster down to a first professional contract have now reached a successful conclusion.
Jurgen Klopp is expected to hand him a first senior debut for Liverpool in the new season after an ankle injury in March curtailed his campaign.
The Liverpool manager has regularly praised Brewster in public, notably when he was racially abused by a Spartak Moscow player in UEFA’s Youth League.
