Klopp urges Liverpool fans to behave for Roma visit

Jurgen Klopp has urged Liverpool fans to behave in their Champions League semi-final with Roma.

Supporters are again planning to converge outside Anfield to welcome their side to Tuesday’s first leg of a last four showdown with the Serie A giants.

Merseyside Police are preparing to step up their patrols of the area in the wake of Manchester City’s team coach being attack in the last round.

Bottles, cans and flares were thrown at the bus carrying the Premier League champions to their quarter-final with the Reds, causing serious damage.

Klopp has pleaded with supporters to maintain a high standard of conduct inside and outside the stadium for the visit of Eusebio Di Francesco’s side.

He said: “In the stadium, do it again. Outside the stadium, please show the respect we have to show.

“This is such a fantastic club, an outstanding football family, known for a fantastic atmosphere all over the world, so we don’t need to throw whatever at the bus of the opponent team.

“If we can do what we did creating an atmosphere in front of the stadium, then do it, but show our opponents the respect they deserve.

“We can show how wonderful Liverpool people are and we can show it in 20 minutes before the game and then the whole world knows it.”
