Mats Hummels has backed Jurgen Klopp to turn around Liverpool’s fortunes.
The Reds won just one of their previous seven games in all competitions before the international break and are seven points off the pace in the Premier League.
Back-to-back clashes with Manchester United and Tottenham could see the gulf between the league’s summit and Anfield stretched worryingly further.
Hummels worked with Klopp during his seven years at Borussia Dortmund and the Bayern Munich has every faith that his former manager will stop the rot.
“I’m following Jurgen Klopp really closely because of the seven years we had when he coached me at Borussia Dortmund,” he told Sky Sports News.
“I was really happy when he had a good start this year, but right now it looks a little tough for him and the club.
“But he and the team will get out of this situation.
“It’s not too bad but it’s not as good as they wanted it to be.”
Earlier this week, Klopp was touted as a potential replacement to Carlo Ancelotti at the Allianz Arena by ex-Germany international Christoph Metzelder.
But Thomas Tuchel, the Liverpool manager’s successor at Dortmund, is among the forerunners alongside highly-rated Hoffenheim boss Julian Nagelsmann.
