Koeman confirms Lukaku will stay at Everton FC

Romelu Lukaku has committed his immediate future to Everton, Ronald Koeman has confirmed.

Koeman revealed in a column for Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf that the striker had pledged to remain at Goodison Park despite interest from Chelsea.

Speaking after the Blues’ win over West Brom, the Dutchman verified that Lukaku will remain with the club until the end of this season at the earliest.

And the Belgium international could now be in line to extend his current Everton contract after talks were opened earlier this month.

“[The newspaper report] is true,” said Koeman.

“He spoke to me yesterday morning that he made a decision by himself to stay at least one more season at Everton.

“That was great news for everybody. “It’s possible [he signs a new deal].”
