Everton have been put up for sale by The Friedkin Group after less than two years.

The group led by Dan and Ryan Friedkin assumed control at Hill Dickinson Stadium in December 2024, bringing Farhad Moshiri’s turbulent ownership to an end.

However the Americans began exploring potential investment opportunities last month in the wake of a calamitous end to the Blues’ summer transfer window.

Attempts to offload homegrown midfielder Harrison Armstrong to Nottingham Forest for £40 million were ended following fan backlash during their trip to Bournemouth.

David Moyes’ side also ended the market with one recognised striker after a deal for Monaco’s Folarin Balogun fell through late on deadline day in farcical fashion.

Everton confirmed on Friday that TFG, who also own AS Roma, are actively looking at all investment options including potentially relinquishing their controlling stake.

“The Friedkin Group is exploring new investment options for Everton Football Club, including the potential sale of a controlling interest,” read a club statement.

“When TFG became custodians of Everton, the club faced significant financial uncertainty and challenges both on and off the pitch.

“The immediate priority was to provide the stability, investment and support needed to secure the club’s future, including helping to bring the long-promised stadium to completion for its deserving supporters.

“With that foundation now safely in place, the time is right to consider the next chapter for Everton.

“We will only entertain interest from parties who we strongly believe will be the right stewards to take the club forward and build on the momentum that has been established.”
