David Moyes has challenged Tyler Dibling to improve his Everton form.
Dibling was hooked at half time of Sunday’s 4-2 humbling by Brentford alongside Dwight McNeil for a second time in his four Premier League starts for the club.
The teenage winger has found game time limited since a £35 million summer arrival from Southampton before an extended run due to a shortage of attacking options.
He started against the Bees with Iliman Ndiaye is still at the Africa Cup of Nations with Senegal and Charly Alcaraz and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall sidelined by injury.
Moyes is expected to hand Dibling another start in Wednesday’s encounter with a struggling Wolves and has explained the reasons for his previous withdrawal.
“When he’s come on to the field we are looking for a bit more and he’s not had loads of opportunities, but he’s had a few,” said the Everton manager.
“It reminds me a bit of my time before, when quite a few who we brought in took time to settle and I hope Tyler is in the same situation.
“Obviously on Sunday we had to try and find a way to do something different and that was part of it.
“He was a bit unlucky, as was Dwight. Tyler needs to keep improving, doing what he’s doing better and we’ll see where he goes.”
