Everton are investigating alleged fracas involving Jordan Pickford.
Video footage surfaced on social media appearing to show the England international involved in an altercation outside a bar in his native Sunderland.
Pickford had returned to his hometown following the Blues’ win over West Ham on Saturday after being given clearance to do so by club officials.
The 25-year-old is understood to have told the Goodison Park hierarchy that the incident was caused by a verbal attack on both him and his fiancee.
Originally, Pickford was due to remain in London to watch former club Sunderland in the Checkatrade Trophy final against Portsmouth.
But the goalkeeper’s plans changed in order to celebrate Mother’s Day in his native North East with both his and his fiancee’s respective families.
“The club has been made aware of an alleged incident involving one of our players and we are looking into the matter”, confirmed an Everton spokesman.
Prior to the international break, Marco Silva had implored Pickford to show ’emotional balance’ following an error-strewn performance against Newcastle.
