Everton sweating on international break injuries

Everton are sweating on the fitness of defenders Yerry Mina and Lucas Digne.

Mina was substituted late in the first half of Colombia’s friendly defeat to South Korea in Seoul on Tuesday morning with an apparent hamstring problem.

The former Barcelona centre-back has endured a difficult start to his Goodison Park career with injuries restricting him to just 12 Premier League appearances.

His partnership with Kurt Zouma in the win over Chelsea before the international break offered fresh encouragement for the £27.2 million signing.

Marco Silva is also facing uncertainty over Digne’s involvement in Saturday’s trip to West Ham after he withdrew from the latest France squad due to injury.

Digne left the world champions’ camp to undergo treatment on Merseyside for a thigh strain that could sideline him for the game at the London Stadium.

The 25-year-old has become a regular figure under Silva this season and is currently displacing Leighton Baines as Everton’s first-choice left-back.
