Silva risks touchline ban in FA misconduct charge

Marco Silva could serve a touchline ban after being hit with a misconduct charge.

The Football Association levelled the charge against Silva for confronting referee Lee Mason in the aftermath of Everton’s 3-2 loss to Newcastle on Saturday.

If found guilty of breaching rule E3, the Blues manager may be forced to sit out games in a sanction that would mirror one recently given to Mauricio Pochettino.

Pochettino received a two-match suspension from the dugout after remonstrating with Mike Dean following Tottenham’s defeat to Burnley at the end of February.

The Argentine coach will serve the last of the ban when his Spurs side travel to Merseyside for their game with Liverpool on March 31.

Silva, who was critical of the decisions taken by Mason and his assistants at St James Park, has until 6pm on Thursday to respond to the FA’s charge.
