Silva refuses to rule out Everton exile’s return

Marco Silva has refused to rule out Nikola Vlasic remaining at Everton in the long-term.

Vlasic joined CSKA Moscow on a season-long loan and hit the headlines for scoring the winning goal in their Champions League tie against Real Madrid.

The Croatian midfielder made just 19 appearances in his debut season at Goodison Park and was said to be ‘frustrated’ by a lack of opportunities.

But Silva insists that the door is not closed on Vlasic’s Everton future and has admitted that a decision could play his way back into the first-team setup.

He said: “It’s possible. Me and him, when we spoke, [about how] he needed time to play.

“He could return to our club. He is playing well. We will follow him and take that decision.

“He is playing well and that is important because he is our player.”
