Everton forward Wayne Rooney has completed a move to DC United.
Rooney will finalise his switch to the Washington-based outfit on July 10, when the American league’s mid-season transfer window reopens.
The three-and-a-half year deal signals an end to the 32-year-old’s Goodison Park homecoming barely 12 months after rejoining from Manchester United.
An agreement was reached between the Blues and DC United to release Rooney from the final 12 months of an existing deal with his boyhood club.
“Moving to America and MLS fulfils another career ambition for me,” said Rooney.
“I have the hunger to be a success here and will give DC 100% – as I have always done for every team I have ever played for.
“Now I can’t wait to get on the pitch in a United shirt and join my new teammates to bring success to this club.”
